Who We Are |
Welcome to the Jonesboro School District!
A sincere welcome is extended to you by the entire faculty and staff of the Jonesboro School District. Jonesboro is well known and admired for the quality of its education, because of this our district has won the Occasions Magazine Readers' Choice, "Best Public School District" award for 4 years in a row! Our schools provide a quality instructional program which is designed to help each child reach his/her maximum potential. Our school district is comprised of the Jonesboro Pre-K Program, Jonesboro Kindergarten Center, 5 Magnet elementaries, 2 junior highs and The Academies at Jonesboro High School. We also partner with the NEA Career/Technical Center and the SUCCESS Achievement Academy. We have high expectations and we extend these same expectations to you. In the Jonesboro District, Excellence is our standard – not our goal – for every child. We encourage all parents and guardians to get involved and be an active part of their child’s education. Educating our students has always been and will continue to be a collaborative effort between school and home. We also invite you to learn more about the great things happening in our schools on a daily basis through our website. There are many ways to find out more about our district. You can follow Jonesboro Public Schools on Twitter and Instagram @jpshurricane. You can also like Jonesboro Public Schools on Facebook. Meet the Teacher |
Dear JHS Parents and Students,
I am thrilled for this upcoming school year, and I am excited that this is my FIRST year teaching! I think it is important we work together as a classroom family. It is important to treat everyone with respect, kindness, and compassion. I know that each student has a different brain, which means they think and learn differently. It is my job, as your teacher, to help you grow as a learner and as a person of good character. I am only one part of your child’s academic future. Parent encouragement and involvement along with student cooperation are vital components of educational growth. I encourage you and your child to join me on this academic journey. As a Jonesboro native, I attended and graduated high school as a Raider at Nettleton High School. I received two Bachelor’s of Science Degrees in Radiologic Sciences from Arkansas State University-Jonesboro (GO RED WOLVES!) My two degrees are emphasis in X-ray/Computed Technology and Radiation Therapy. After graduating from ASU, I worked as a Radiation Therapist at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. Soon after working there, I decided that teaching is where my heart belongs. While not at school, you will find me outdoors, at any sports event (especially football), and traveling to different places around the world. I am a big Red Wolves and Razorbacks fan!! Aside from sports, I love to read. As for our academic growth this year, we will follow the Arkansas Department of Education Standards. These standards can be found on the Arkansas Department of Education website. Students are expected to be prepared daily; bringing all necessary books, assignments, and technology. Students will be informed each Monday of that week’s planned assignments, expectations, and due dates. This information will be posted in Google Classroom. We will also be looking for real world application of Family and Consumer Science including projects, guest speakers, and field trips to enrich our academic experience. Please inform me of any ideas or suggestions you would like to have considered. Also note that if you ever have any comments, questions, or concerns, I am available for phone calls and meetings (by appointments please) each day before and after school. I am confident that your child will have a rewarding experience at JHS! GO CANES!! Enthusiastically, Madison Rupard [email protected] Family and Consumer Science Teacher- Jonesboro High School |
